Praise for Gypsy!!

Gypsys Meadow ebook

Gypsys Meadow ebook

When Understanding Is Passed On...
Gypsy's Meadow is a beautiful little book written by a mother and daughter team to honor the horses they had lost. In a very touching, but not gruesome way they let you know the hardships these particular horses had suffered before they came home to be theirs. They also let you know that the horses chose to belong to them and share their spirits.
There is nothing like the love of a mother and child, it ranks right above the love of a girl and her horse. There is something spiritual about the love of a young girl and a horse. The fact that this mother and daughter were both able to share that bond is amazing. It is an awesome little book well told and illustrated in a childlike manner.
The horses eventually move on, but the story of love and trust with redemption is so well told that it is totally worth the emotional journey to read it. The proceeds of this book are to go to the horse rescue that provided these amazing horses to allow this tale to be told. It is a book that will touch you whether you are an adult or a child. Definitely worth reading if you are a horse lover and especially worth reading if you have ever owned a rescue horse.
If you have never owned a horse, rescue or not, you cannot help but feel the love spill off these pages as the mother and daughter author team pay their respects to some amazing animals that defiantly shaped their lives.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and I thank the authors for sharing it with me.

  1. What a great way to help a child deal with the loss of their beloved pet and friend. J.T. Brown knows how to take something that can be so painful and turn it into something that can make you smile and happy for the journey the pet will take during it's short life. Great Job J.T. Brown and Madison Brown for sharing such a powerful and meaningful story. Not only will it help someone deal with their loss, but also will benefit a horse in need from the generous donations through the sales of this book, to benefit the "First Light Equine Shelter". What better way to heal, by helping another animal live. Thank you for caring.

  3. Gypsy's Meadow by JT Brown is an uplifting children's story about a rescued pony and the special relationship with her young girl owner. The girl learns to care for the pony, and they ride the trails and attend horse shows together. When the girl grows up and marries, Gypsy goes to a new home with them. The girl introduces her baby daughter to Gypsy and eventually the horse teaches the youngster, too. When the mare is too old to be ridden, she welcomes new horses to the barn for the mother and daughter to ride. The theme of opening your heart to love is a concept for every reader.

The ending is sad, yet insightful and gives the young reader a positive outlook on death.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: "Gypsy's Meadow" is a touching story which tells a tale of many horses out there that are just plainly looking for a good home.

The purpose and mission of this book, is to raise funds for "First Light Farms Equine Shelter"; so other horses can share their "Remember When" and not "Maybe could be."

"Every step we take could be another hoof print left in our hearts."

  4. One of the biggest notes of this book is it was written to benefit a Horse Shelter. It's another reminder that there are loving animals in need of forever homes.

This book is absolutely lovely. In the very beginning it shows that a child can often see the good in something that, as adults, we may not. I found so many "little notes" within the book that we often forget. I think may of us ignore an important fact made within this book: we get to choose our pet, they don't get to choose us. It's up to us to make sure we're worthy of the trust and love we ask in return from them.

Told from Gypsy's point of view, I dare you to not have a tear come to your eye as Gypsy trusts the new little girl and remembers times when he was scared and fighting to just gain a few bites to eat. A sad but beautiful story of the life of an animal.

You may not be able to make a difference for the entire world -- but for one animal (maybe even several) you can change their world.

  5. I received this as a gift, and I am so glad that I did.

I read this to my 8 year old son and we both Loved it.

Gypsy is a horse that has been either abused, neglected or both has has found a new forever loving home and a has gained a best friend in a little girl. She feels safe, loved and cared for. For that she loves back in return. She has now past away and stands in the same corner remembering the wonderful years she has been given by this little girl and watches her still as she has become a woman with a child of her own and the love of horses.

This story is a wonderful child's book and helps children deal with losing a loved pet(Best Friend) It also shows that though Gypsy may have had a poor life in the past with another owner she was able to find love and trust in her new family.

I cried actual tears while reading this story to my son. When I asked him what he thought of the book he said
Son: " Mom my heart hurts, I feel so bad for Gypsy that she had a bad life with the other people that had her, but was so Happy that she found a great home and was happy when she died. He then went on to say he wishes he could save all the horses that are unloved, unwanted and uncared for"

I then cried even more after hearing that. As my son really had a complete understanding of how important it is to love and care for horses (all animals).

I hope this book serves as an advocate to the children and parents that read this and more can be done to help the horses in need of a Best friend and forever home.

The illustrations in the book were Amazing, in each picture it was easy to imagine Gypsy and how beautiful she was.
